This Little Brownie Went to Market

We had an amazing time at The Heaton Moor Producers Market last Sunday! Partly due to the weather holding out, but mostly down to the great atmosphere and all the lovely local produce. The market is held the first Sunday of every month and hosts some of the best independent businesses in and around the Stockport area.

We were out in force with fresh batches of some our favourite traybakes. Our Millionaires Caramel Shortbread, Cookies and Cream Brownie and Raspberry and Almond slices all went down a treat, as did the Granola Squares and our NEW vegan Pecan Brownies (keep an eye out for more on those next week).

The market is a wonderful place for anyone who enjoys quality local produce, and over the years we have made some great fellow trader friends, who offer some amazing, one of a kind, products. Victoria, who runs one of our favourite stalls, Scents and Solace, makes handcrafted soy wax candles which are both environmentally friendly and come in a huge variety of amazing fragrances. Another Market must see, are the beautiful creations from the Sarah Brelsford Studio. Sarah specialises in handcrafted jewellery and ornaments

made from up-cycled tin and glass, each piece is truly one of a kind with an incredible attention to detail. We can't forget Mel, owner of Jewellsy. She makes beautifully intricate jewellery using beads and resin, and if you’re looking for an opportunity to get creative Mel teaches classes where you can learn to make your own!

Back on a more foodie note, our friend Paul, owner of Fat Jax, makes some of the best chutneys and jams around. His Bengal Spiced Pineapple Chutney won a star at the 2015 Great Taste Awards, and this year he picked up a total of 3 stars, 2 for a sweet and smokey Chipotle Jam and 1 more for his Right Hot Chilli Relish. Perfect additions for your next cheese board. There is also Alam's' South Asian pickles and street food, he does very tasty samosas and pakoras with dips to die for and jars of pickles and chutneys to take home. We can’t finish the shout outs without mentioning James and Sean, the men behind the beans at Heart and Graft. Their coffee is featured in the Northern Independent Coffee Guide, and is often paired with a Brownie Owl brownie in many cafes around Manchester’s Northern Quarter & the City Centre.

To find out more about any of our fellow traders simply click on the green to go to their websites or social media pages.

The market is a wonderful place where people can showcase their passion, engage with the community and turn their craft into a livelihood. We look forward to seeing you at the next Heaton Moor market on SUNDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER!
